Winsome Earle-Sears
Governor
VA Governor 2026
Winsome Earle-Sears is Virginia's Lieutenant Governor, the first woman and first woman of color elected to a statewide executive office in Virginia's history. Born in Jamaica, she emigrated to the United States as a child, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and built a career as a businesswoman and school board member before entering politics. A reliably conservative Republican with a compelling personal story, she is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for Virginia governor in 2026. Virginia's constitution prohibits governors from serving consecutive terms, making the seat fully open.
