Tony Evers
Governor
WI Governor
Tony Evers is a retired school superintendent who became Wisconsin's governor in 2019 after defeating Republican Scott Walker. A mild-mannered former educator from Plymouth, Wisconsin, he has governed against a Republican-controlled legislature for most of his tenure, winning re-election in 2022 against Tim Michels by 3.5 points. Wisconsin is the quintessential battleground state — a perennial toss-up in presidential, Senate, and gubernatorial races. His 2026 race is expected to be among the most competitive governor's contests in the country.
