Tim Scott represents South Carolina in the U.S. Senate, where he has served since 2013 after being appointed by Governor Nikki Haley to fill the seat of retiring Senator Jim DeMint. He chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs in the 119th Congress, previously represented South Carolina's 1st congressional district in the U.S. House, and was a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
