Michael Bennet represents Colorado in the U.S. Senate, where he has served since 2009 after being appointed to fill the seat vacated when Ken Salazar became Secretary of the Interior. He previously served as superintendent of Denver Public Schools and as chief of staff to Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, and announced in 2025 that he would run for Governor of Colorado in 2026.
