FL Former U.S. Representative 2026
Matt Gaetz resigned from Congress in November 2024 after President-elect Trump nominated him for U.S. Attorney General. The nomination was withdrawn ahead of a House Ethics Committee report that accused him of paying for sex and drug use, allegations Gaetz denies. He subsequently joined One America News Network as a prime-time host. In early 2025 Gaetz publicly floated the idea of a 2026 Florida gubernatorial run but never officially filed as a candidate. Trump then endorsed Byron Donalds for the race and a Trump adviser stated the endorsement was "set" regardless of who else entered.
