Jonathan Derrick Evans (known as Derrick Evans) is a Republican who registered a 2026 U.S. Senate candidacy in West Virginia; his campaign committee, Evans for WV, reported $1,062,145.01 in receipts. He previously worked as a high school teacher and football coach and served in the West Virginia House of Delegates for the 19th district, resigning in January 2021. In 2022 he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of civil disorder for his role in the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol breach and was sentenced to three months in prison; he was pardoned by President Trump in January 2025. Evans withdrew from the Senate race in June 2025.
