Terry Virts is a retired NASA astronaut and U.S. Air Force colonel who is running as a Democrat in the 2026 U.S. Senate race in Texas. He piloted Space Shuttle Endeavour on STS-130 in 2010 and commanded the International Space Station on Expedition 43, retiring from NASA in August 2016. After leaving NASA he worked as a public speaker, author, and consultant; the FEC lists him as a Democratic candidate for Senate in Texas (ID S6TX00412).
