Darius Mitchell, a Republican from Columbia, S.C., ran for the U.S. Senate seat representing South Carolina in 2026. He filed for the regular Republican primary, in which he received 2.3% of the vote (10,833 votes) on June 9, 2026, finishing sixth of six candidates. Mitchell, 52, the son of an Air Force veteran, was also one of three candidates the South Carolina Republican Party declined to certify for the August 11, 2026 special Republican primary to fill the seat vacated by the death of Lindsey Graham.
