Frederick "Fred" Ode founded Foundation Software, a construction-industry accounting software company based in Strongsville, Ohio, in 1985, and served as its CEO until stepping down following the company's 2020 acquisition by private equity firm Thoma Bravo. A Columbia Township, Ohio business owner and philanthropist, Ode filed as a Democratic candidate for the 2026 U.S. Senate special election in Ohio, with the Federal Election Commission recording his statement of candidacy on August 22, 2025. He ended his Senate campaign in November 2025, urging supporters to back a candidate who would "speak truth even when it's uncomfortable."
