Sherrod Brown is the Democratic nominee in the 2026 U.S. Senate special election in Ohio, running against Republican incumbent Jon Husted to complete the term left vacant by JD Vance's resignation. Brown previously served three terms as U.S. Senator from Ohio (2007–2025), after representing Ohio's 13th congressional district in the U.S. House (1993–2007), serving as Ohio Secretary of State (1983–1991), and serving in the Ohio House of Representatives (1975–1983). He holds a bachelor's degree in Russian studies from Yale University and two graduate degrees from Ohio State University, and taught at Ohio State's Mansfield campus from 1979 to 1981 before his political career. Brown lost his 2024 re-election bid to Bernie Moreno and announced his 2026 Senate candidacy in August 2025.
