Seth Bodnar is an Independent candidate for the U.S. Senate seat in Montana in the 2026 election, according to Federal Election Commission records. Before entering the race, Bodnar served as president of the University of Montana from January 2018 until his resignation on January 21, 2026. Earlier in his career, Bodnar graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, served as a U.S. Army officer including a tour as a Green Beret in the 1st Special Forces Group, studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and worked as a senior executive in General Electric's transportation division. Bodnar launched his independent Senate campaign in March 2026 and collected petition signatures across 52 of Montana's 56 counties to qualify for the general election ballot.
