Scott Colom is the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Mississippi's 2026 election, having won the Democratic primary on March 10, 2026. He has served as district attorney for Mississippi's 16th Judicial District since January 2016, a position he was first elected to in 2015 and has since been re-elected to twice. Colom holds a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School and previously worked as a justice court judge in Lowndes County, a municipal court judge in Aberdeen, and city prosecutor of Columbus, Mississippi. In 2022 he was nominated by President Biden to serve as a U.S. district judge for the Northern District of Mississippi, a nomination that did not advance after Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith declined to return her blue slip.
