Natasha Alcala, a Democrat from Madawaska in Aroostook County, registered with the Federal Election Commission on February 20, 2025 as a challenger for the 2026 U.S. Senate seat in Maine. She holds bachelor's degrees in criminal justice and in police science-international relations, and previously filed to run in Maine's 2024 U.S. Senate race before withdrawing before that year's Democratic primary. In her 2024 Maine Democratic Party Convention statement, she cited federal infrastructure funding for Maine cities and towns, veterans' programs, and law enforcement hiring as priorities.
