Eric Frederick Skrmetta (born October 1, 1958, in New Orleans) is a Republican attorney and mediator, practicing law since 1985 and mediating since 1989. He earned a B.S. in industrial technology from Louisiana State University in 1981, a J.D. cum laude from Southern University School of Law in 1985, and an LL.M. in admiralty law from Tulane University Law School in 1986. Skrmetta has served on the Louisiana Public Service Commission as District 1 commissioner since January 1, 2009, following his election in a November 4, 2008 runoff, and was elected commission chairman in January 2013. He announced a U.S. Senate campaign on July 25, 2025, challenging incumbent Bill Cassidy, and withdrew from the Republican primary on February 13, 2026, endorsing Julia Letlow.
