Julia Letlow is a Republican from Monroe, Louisiana, who has served since 2021 as the U.S. representative for Louisiana's 5th congressional district, the first Republican woman to represent Louisiana in Congress. She holds a Ph.D. in communications from the University of South Florida and previously worked as director of external affairs at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. In January 2026 she launched a U.S. Senate campaign challenging incumbent Bill Cassidy, and on June 27, 2026 she won the Republican nomination by defeating state Treasurer John Fleming in the primary runoff.
