Charles Booker is the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate from Kentucky in the 2026 election. He previously represented Kentucky's 43rd district in the state House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021. In 2022 he won the Democratic Senate primary but lost the general election to incumbent Republican Rand Paul. Booker won Kentucky's May 2026 Democratic Senate primary and faces Republican Andy Barr in the general election to succeed retiring Senator Mitch McConnell. He is the first African American to be a major-party U.S. Senate nominee in Kentucky.
