Joel Willett is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky in the 2026 election, running for the seat held by Mitch McConnell. A Louisville native, Willett, 41, joined the Kentucky Army National Guard at 17 in the months after the September 11, 2001 attacks and later served in the Army's Military Police Corps. He subsequently served as a CIA officer, including a detail to the White House Situation Room, and worked as a business executive, including as president of a consumer electronics manufacturing business and CEO of an engineering services firm. He has not previously run for public office.
