Joshua Joseph Weil, a Democrat from Florida, is running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Marco Rubio's term. He previously ran unsuccessfully in the April 2025 special election for Florida's 6th Congressional District, losing to Republican Randy Fine 42.7% to 56.7%. According to the Associated Press, Weil worked as a public school teacher and administrator in the Orlando area. Ballotpedia reports that he was born in East Meadow, New York, and earned bachelor's degrees from Stony Brook University and Northwood University and a master's degree from the University of Central Florida.
