Jeff Appelhans is a historian running as a Democrat for the U.S. Senate in Delaware in 2026, challenging incumbent Chris Coons in the September 15, 2026 Democratic primary. He holds a PhD in history from the University of Delaware and previously taught at Colorado Springs School District 11 from 2001 to 2010. He has also served as an adjunct assistant professor of history at the University of Delaware and as a fellow at the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia.
