Mary Peltola is the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Alaska in the 2026 election, challenging Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan. She previously represented Alaska in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2022 to 2025, becoming the first Alaska Native person elected to Congress before losing her seat in 2024 to Republican Nick Begich. Earlier in her career, she served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 1999 to 2009, worked as a commercial fisher, and served as executive director of the Kuskokwim River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission.
