Beth Macy is the Democratic nominee for U.S. House in Virginia's 6th Congressional District in 2026, running against Republican incumbent Ben Cline. A longtime Roanoke, Virginia resident originally from Ohio, she is the author of five books including the 2018 bestseller Dopesick and the 2025 memoir Paper Girl, and previously worked as a reporter for The Roanoke Times from 1989 to 2014. She announced her campaign in November 2025 and advanced from the canceled Democratic primary without opposition.
