Shannon Taylor, a Democrat from Virginia, is running for the U.S. House in Virginia's 1st Congressional District in 2026. A native of Charlottesville, she earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia in 1989 and a law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1995, and previously worked as a prosecutor in Richmond and as a special assistant in the U.S. Attorney's office. She was first elected Henrico County Commonwealth's Attorney in 2011 — the first woman to hold the post — and has served three terms in the role, while also running twice for the Democratic nomination for Virginia Attorney General (in 2021 and 2025).
