Lisa Vedernikova Khanna, a Democrat whose name appears on FEC filings for Virginia's 1st Congressional District (FEC ID H6VA01190, committee 'Lisa for Virginia'), ended her campaign on January 12, 2026 and will not appear on the August 4, 2026 Democratic primary ballot, according to Ballotpedia and her campaign's published statement. Her campaign website describes her as a community and business leader who was raised by a single mother who fled Soviet Russia and spent years undocumented while building a small business. Her withdrawal statement, released from Midlothian, Virginia, said the campaign had hosted events in all 18 localities in the district and raised approximately $300,000 from over 2,000 donors in 48 states.
