Thurman Bill Bartie is the Democratic candidate for U.S. House in Texas's 14th Congressional District in the 2026 election. A lifelong Port Arthur, Texas resident, he earned a bachelor's degree from Lamar University and a master's in ministry from Tennessee Temple University. His career experience includes work as a funeral director and embalmer, a teacher, and a pastor. In 1994, he was elected the first African American Justice of the Peace for Precinct 8 in Jefferson County, and in 2019, he was elected mayor of Port Arthur, where he served two terms.
