Nick Tran is a U.S. Army combat veteran and Republican who ran for the U.S. House in Texas' 8th Congressional District in 2026. He was born in South Vietnam and, as a child, fled with his father by boat in 1975, when the family was rescued at sea by the U.S. Navy. He served in the Army for over thirteen years, including deployments for Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Tran earned a bachelor's degree from Trident University International, completed the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School, and later spent twelve years in the oil and gas industry. He and his wife live in The Woodlands, Texas, and he ran unsuccessfully in the March 3, 2026 Republican primary, finishing third.
