Oscar Romero is a Democratic candidate who ran for New York's 13th Congressional District in the 2026 election and lost the Democratic primary on June 23, 2026. According to his campaign website, he was born in Mission, Texas to Mexican migrant parents, grew up between the US, Costa Rica, and Mexico, and settled in Guadalajara at age nine, later earning a bachelor's degree in International Affairs from the University of Guadalajara. His campaign biography also states that he has spent the past seven years working with the New York City Civic Engagement Commission on participatory democracy initiatives, and he is identified on his campaign site as a New School alumnus.
