Mike Smith is a retired U.S. Navy Captain who ran as the Republican candidate for U.S. House in Nevada's 2nd Congressional District in 2026. He began his 30-year military career at the U.S. Naval Academy in 1982, served as a fighter pilot flying F-14s and FA-18s, and was mobilized for Operation Iraqi Freedom. After the Navy he worked as a commercial airline pilot and a Senior Tactical Systems Analyst for the Department of the Navy.
