James A. Settelmeyer is the Nevada Director of Conservation and Natural Resources, appointed by Gov. Joe Lombardo on January 6, 2023, with a term ending in 2027. A Republican, he previously represented Nevada's 17th Senate District from 2010 to 2022, where he served as Minority Leader from 2018 to 2022, and served in the Nevada Assembly from 2006 to 2010. He is a third-generation Nevada rancher and agriculturalist who earned a bachelor's degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1994.
