Teresa Benitez-Thompson (born July 25, 1978) is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House in Nevada's 2nd Congressional District in 2026, running to succeed the open seat. A social worker by training, she earned a B.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, and worked as a hospice social worker. She served in the Nevada Assembly representing District 27 from 2010 to 2022, including as Majority Leader from 2016 to 2022, and most recently was Chief of Staff to Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford. As of June 30, 2026, her campaign had reported $257,086.52 in total receipts to the FEC.
