Jay Vaingankar ran as a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House in New Jersey's 12th Congressional District in 2026, losing the June 2 Democratic primary with 3.0% of the vote. An East Windsor, N.J. resident and University of Pennsylvania graduate, he served in the Biden administration as a field organizer on the 2020 campaign and then in the White House Office of Management and Administration on COVID-19 operations before becoming a Special Advisor in the Department of Energy's Office of Policy, where he worked on implementing clean-energy tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act. After leaving the administration he became Director of Policy and Markets at Solar Landscape, a solar development company, before returning to New Jersey to run for Congress.
