Mark Harris is a Republican member of the U.S. House representing North Carolina's 8th Congressional District, having assumed office on January 3, 2025. Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he is a Baptist pastor who has served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, and as president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina; he currently serves as lead pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Mooresville. He holds a bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University and both a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. First elected to the seat in 2024 after an earlier 2018 bid in the 9th District was voided, Harris is running for re-election in 2026.
