Robert Otho Hanig, known as Bobby Hanig, is a Republican member of the North Carolina State Senate representing District 1 (he was first appointed to the seat in 2022 and re-elected in 2024). A U.S. Army veteran who lives in Currituck County, he previously served in the North Carolina House of Representatives for the 6th district from 2019 to 2022 and on the Currituck County Board of Commissioners from 2016 to 2018. He is the owner of The Pool Guy Aquatic Services. In 2026, Hanig ran for the U.S. House in North Carolina's 1st Congressional District and lost the March 3 Republican primary to Laurie Buckhout.
