Trina Swanson is the DFL-endorsed Democratic candidate running for the U.S. House in Minnesota's 8th Congressional District in 2026. She grew up in Hermantown, Minnesota, and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of St. Thomas and a law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. After starting her federal career at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Duluth, she spent roughly 25 years with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, including overseas posts in Germany and Kenya, and rose to Director of International Operations. She left federal service and returned to Minnesota to start a law practice before launching her congressional campaign.
