Joseph Baldacci is an attorney and Democratic state senator from Bangor, Maine, representing Senate District 9 after winning election in 2020 and reelection in 2022 and 2024. He earned a bachelor's in political science from the University of Maine in 1987 and a law degree from the University of Maine School of Law in 1991, and previously served on the Bangor City Council beginning in 1996, including terms as chair and mayor. He is the brother of former Maine Governor and U.S. Congressman John Baldacci. In January 2026 Baldacci announced a campaign for Maine's 2nd Congressional District after incumbent Jared Golden opted not to seek reelection.
