David Trone is an American politician and businessman who served as the U.S. Representative for Maryland's 6th congressional district from 2019 to 2025, when he was succeeded by April McClain Delaney. He co-founded the beverage retailer Total Wine & More with his brother Robert and served as the company's president until December 2016. He holds a B.A. from Furman University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In 2024, he was the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Maryland and spent over $60 million of his own money before losing the primary to Angela Alsobrooks.
