Rushern L. Baker III is a lawyer and former elected official in Maryland. Born in Valdosta, Georgia in 1958, he earned a bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor from Howard University and served as a captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1987 to 2001. He represented northern Prince George's County in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1994 to 2003 and served as the 7th County Executive of Prince George's County from 2010 to 2018. A Democrat, Baker ran unsuccessfully for governor of Maryland in 2018 and 2022, and was a 2026 candidate for U.S. House in Maryland's 5th Congressional District.
