Lauren Jewett is the Democratic candidate for Louisiana's 1st Congressional District in 2026. She is a Nationally Board Certified special education teacher with more than 16 years of experience in Louisiana public and charter schools. She previously ran unsuccessfully for the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education District 1 in 2023 and for the Jefferson Parish School Board in 2022. Jewett holds a B.A. in history and political science from the University of Rochester (2009) and an M.A. in English from Middlebury College (2023). She serves on the Louisiana Democratic Party Executive Committee representing the 1st Congressional District Caucus.
