Ralph Alvarado is a physician and Republican who served in the Kentucky State Senate representing the 28th district from 2015 to 2023, when he resigned to become the 15th Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Health. A graduate of Loma Linda University (BS and MD), he completed his medical residency at the University of Kentucky and worked as a physician with Kentucky One Medical Group. He was the 2019 Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky on a ticket with Governor Matt Bevin. He is the Republican nominee for Kentucky's 6th congressional district in the 2026 general election, with FEC filings reporting $1,521,812.83 in total receipts.
