Don Coover is the Democratic candidate for U.S. House in Kansas's 2nd Congressional District in 2026, running as a challenger to U.S. Rep. Derek Schmidt. A veterinarian and rancher, Coover is a West Point graduate who served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to the 1980s. He holds a veterinary license from Kansas State University and runs a beef cattle genetics company and working ranch in the district. He filed to run on Aug. 26, 2025.
