Julie Fortier is the Democratic nominee for U.S. House in Illinois' 12th Congressional District in 2026. A U.S. Air Force veteran, she served four years including a tour with Desert Shield and 4½ months in Qatar, then settled in Southwest Illinois after being stationed at Scott Air Force Base. She holds degrees in biology and mathematics from McKendree College and a PhD in biomedical sciences from St. Louis University, and has worked in cancer research and teaching.
