Bushra Amiwala is a Skokie, Illinois school board member who ran for the Democratic nomination for U.S. House in Illinois' 9th Congressional District in 2026. She was first elected to the Skokie School District 73.5 board in April 2019, the first Gen Z woman elected to public office in the United States at that time, and was re-elected in April 2023. She previously ran unsuccessfully for the Cook County Board of Commissioners in the 2018 Democratic primary. Amiwala holds a bachelor's degree from DePaul University and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management (June 2025).
