Daniel Biss is a mathematician and the 22nd Mayor of Evanston, Illinois, a position he has held since May 2021. He served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2011 to 2013 and in the Illinois Senate from 2013 to 2019, and he ran in the 2018 Democratic primary for governor of Illinois. In 2025 he announced a campaign for Illinois's 9th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, and he won the Democratic primary in March 2026.
