Willie Preston is the Illinois State Senator for the 16th District and the Democrat who ran for U.S. House in Illinois' 2nd Congressional District in 2026. Born and raised in Chicago, he worked as a union carpenter, attended Chicago State University and Roosevelt University, and operates a construction firm. His civic work includes organizing with the Grassroots Alliance for Police Accountability and serving on the board of the Chicagoland YMCA's early childhood education program and the Local School Council at Scott Joplin Elementary School. He lost the Democratic primary on March 17, 2026.
