Sarah Zabel (independent) is running for election to the U.S. House to represent Idaho's 1st Congressional District and is on the ballot in the general election on November 3, 2026. Born in Burbank, California, she served in the U.S. Air Force from 1987 to 2018, retiring as a major general, and holds a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy (1987) and graduate degrees from the University of Texas at San Antonio (1996) and the U.S. Army War College (2007). She wrote a book about the science of depression and became an adjunct for the RAND Corporation before entering the race in November 2025.
