Brenton Awa is a Republican member of the Hawaii State Senate, representing District 23 (Kaneohe through the North Shore of Oahu), where he was first elected in 2022 and re-elected in 2024; he currently serves as the Hawaii Senate Minority Leader. Born in Ka'a'awa and a 2004 graduate of Kahuku High School, Awa is a Kahalu'u resident and does not hold outside employment, instead running 'aina-based community initiatives including two public food forests.
