Melat Kiros (born 1997) is an American lawyer running as the Democratic nominee for Colorado's 1st congressional district in 2026. Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, she grew up in Aurora, Colorado, and graduated from Washington College in 2018 and Notre Dame Law School in 2022. After working as a securities regulatory associate at Sidley Austin in New York and being dismissed in 2023 over a public post, she returned to Colorado and enrolled in a PhD program at the University of Colorado Denver. She won the Democratic primary on June 30, 2026, defeating 15-term incumbent Diana DeGette.
