Jim Desmond is a Republican member of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, representing the 5th district since 2019, and is running for California's 48th Congressional District in the November 3, 2026 general election. He previously served as mayor of San Marcos, California from 2006 to 2018 and on the San Marcos City Council from 2004 to 2006. A U.S. Navy veteran, he earned a bachelor's degree from San Diego State University and worked as a commercial pilot before entering public office.
