Marquette Greene-Scott is the Democratic nominee for U.S. House in Texas' 22nd Congressional District in 2026, having won the March 3, 2026 Democratic primary with 54.6% of the vote. Born in Opelousas, Louisiana, she earned a B.S. in secondary education/mathematics (1993) and an M.S. in mathematics (1997) from Southern University, and a J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 2004. She is an attorney and former high school and college mathematics teacher. Greene-Scott previously served as mayor pro tem of the City of Iowa Colony, holding Position 3 on the city council, and was the 2024 Democratic nominee for the same congressional seat, losing to incumbent Troy Nehls.
