David Pan is a professor of German at U.C. Irvine, where he has worked since 2006; he previously taught at Stanford, Washington University in St. Louis, and Pennsylvania State University, and earlier in his career worked as a management consultant at McKinsey and Company in Los Angeles. He holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a graduate degree from Columbia University. A resident of Irvine, Pan advanced from the June 2, 2026 primary and faces incumbent Democrat Lou Correa in the November 3, 2026 general election for California's 46th Congressional District; he also ran for the same seat in 2024 and served as a commissioner on the U.S. State Department's Commission on Unalienable Rights from 2019 to 2020.
