Steven Wesley Holden Sr. is a Democrat who filed to run for New York's 24th Congressional District in 2026 and later withdrew from the June 23, 2026 Democratic primary. He was the 2022 Democratic nominee for the same seat, losing to Republican Claudia Tenney 34.3% to 65.7%. Born in Miami, Oklahoma, he served in the U.S. Army from 1998 to 2018, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Finance Corps after deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He earned an associate degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (1992), a bachelor's from the University of Central Oklahoma (1994), and a graduate degree from Syracuse University (2007). His career experience includes serving as a chief financial officer of a firm that helps military veterans obtain government contracts.
